It has been such a long time since I've done a tarot
review! I'll have to do some catching up. It's been so long that my
collection is now bursting at the seams. I don't do much reading these
days, but I greatly enjoy the art, and the art of the hunt for the perfect
deck. I've been blessed to source some really phenomenal work over these
last few years and I strongly encourage you to check out these selections when
you have a chance.
This hasn't been the year for predictions, in my
opinion. If anything, I've felt a strong need to stay detached from
reading and instead focus a lot more on prayer and on keeping life in
order. But, with the rise of the darkness of the coming winter, I find
myself alone with my cards more often and feel like maybe it's time to start
sorting and culling my collection down to the necessities. I like
downsizing. Something tells me we're all going to be needing to downsize
our lives sooner than later. Don't need cards to tell me that.

Untamed Mystery Tarot
by Dayo Akinbenu; Retailer- Emma Lee
backed on Kickstarter
I purchased the Argent and the Aurum decks and gave one to
my sister. It's a stunning design and beautifully crafted. The deck
is a tad too thick for my wee little hands to shuffle comfortably but it's a
favorite nonetheless. Something about the way the art exceeds the
borders, it just tickles my eye.

Classic Horror Oracle
by Ricardo Ricardo Diseño
purchased locally at Northwest Art & Frame, Seattle WA
A festive and fun deck that plays well with friends and
invites the energy of the spooky seasons into your life. I'm particularly
fond of the aesthetic decisions made regarding color. I must have for any
horror-lover out there, be they a witch or movie-buff.

Little Bird Tarot
by Shanna Dee
backed on Kickstarter
As an avid lover of avian art, I had to get this the moment
I saw the project on Kickstarter. It's honestly one of the prettiest
decks in my collection and has a high-quality cardstock. It's a thick
deck that glides easily. The only drawback is trying to decipher the
themes of the tarot through the imagery chosen. But then, that's what
imagination is for!

Nereids Oracle
by Stevyn Llewellyn
backed on Kickstarter
One beautiful set of cards. I backed this one a few months back because the lines caught my eye. Such glide and flow. I like the consistency of the dreamy, languid artwork - I love the way it wanders, like a stream, like a thought. Though, I confess the repetition in character position and placement can bleed together a little after a while - sort of like revisting the same image from different angles. I really liked the different interpretive themes of the different cards and enjoyed relating the theme of each one to the mythos of the associated Nereid and its reflection in my own life. Definitely a keeper
Honorable Mention: Witch's Wheel Spinning Oracle
by Athene Arcana
purchased via Etsy
It may not be a card deck but it certainly speaks like
one. It's just a lot of fun to play with in general, but the design
is really why it's worth a look. The packaging is quality crafted; the
medallion is even and balanced; I had this baby spinning for nearly 2 whole
minutes! I like to take this oracle with me when I'm on the go, wandering
the woods- I like to spin it on stumps and stones.
